RALEIGH, N.C. - The Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau, recognizing the need to have a day-to-day presence in the country's largest association market, has opened a Washington, D.C. satellite office. More than 2,400 national trade associations are headquartered in the Washington area.

Kumi Anzalone has been hired as national sales manager to oversee the Washington, D.C. sales office, which also includes the Maryland and Virginia territories. Focusing on promoting the new 500,000 square foot Raleigh Convention Center, opening September 2008, Anzalone will target all national association markets, excluding religious, fraternal and minority that will use the center.

"We are fortunate that Kumi is rejoining the Raleigh team and will bring with her a tremendous amount of energy, passion and knowledge of the Raleigh area," said Denny Edwards, president and CEO of the GRCVB. "Being headquartered out of Washington, she will be able to maintain a constant presence at conferences and meetings that are critical for the success of promoting Raleigh as a premier meeting destination."

Anzalone brings more than nine years experience to the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau two of those being with the GRCVB from 2004-2006. Most recently Anzalone was a Regional Sales Manager for Travel Alberta International in the Washington, DC sales office.

The Greater Raleigh CVB is a non-profit agency that promotes Raleigh and Wake County to enhance the economic growth and development of Raleigh and Wake County by increasing visitor and convention business.
