Raleigh's Fly-Fishing Lessons & Fishing Adventures Available For Tourists

RALEIGH, N.C. (December 2005)  Raleigh visitors with an interest in fishing will find that the season kicks off as early as February on Lake Wheeler. This 635-acre lake is known for bass tournaments held each April and October. One-day, land-based fishing permits for Lake Wheeler are available for visitors for just $3.00. Nearby, Lake Johnson is known for its large-mouth bass and crappie fishing. Freddie Floyd of Floyd's Bass Guide Service, a local guide and tournament fisherman with more than 25 years of experience, shares his expertise on full and half-day fishing adventures, available to tourists for a fee by contacting Raleigh Parks & Recreation. The 50-acre Shelley Lake in north Raleigh is also popular with guests. Non-motorized boat rentals are also available at each lake, and a N.C. fishing license is required.

Orvis, In addition to the in-store historical and education displays and merchandise, the store sports "how to" seminars, fly-fishing schools, guided fly-fishing trips, and an outfitting service.

The 20,000 square-foot store located at Triangle Town Center is Orvis' first large format store outside of Vermont and resembles the retailer's flagship store in Manchester, Vermont. Thanks to the manmade Commons River that flows past the front of the store, the property features an exterior fly-casting platform where demonstrations and fly-casting lessons will occur daily.

In addition to the in-store historical and education displays and merchandise, the store sports "how to" seminars, fly-fishing schools, guided fly-fishing trips, and an outfitting service. For more information, visit http://www.orvis.com/store/subcategory.asp?dir_id=758&Group_ID=7524&cat_id=5712.
